Box Score INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI finished off its three-match home stand with a win over Michigan State, beating the Spartans 4-2.
 
The Jags (3-1), earned the doubles point after the team of Alex Jochim and Colton Morehart won the No. 1 match 6-3 and Sean Bailey and Ethan Mardanus-Budiono won the No. 3 match 7-5. The 3-1 start for IUPUI matches the best start for the Jags since the 2002-2003 season.  The win over the Spartans was also the first time in Division I history (1998) that IUPUI has beaten a Big Ten team.
 
In singles play, Jochim picked up another point at the No. 1 match, winning 7-5, 6-4. The other two Jaguar victories that earned IUPUI came in comeback, three-set wins. Mardanus-Budiono took his No. 4 match after losing the first set 1-6 and coming back for a 7-5, 6-3 win. Eric Hollingsworth dropped his first set 2-6 and made the comeback to win 6-4, 6-2.
 
IUPUI will head north on Sunday (Jan. 26) for a meeting with Purdue. The match against the Boilermakers will start at 3 p.m. ET.
