INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI men's tennis team will have a busy weekend, playing four matches in three days, including a double-header at home on Friday (Jan. 25).
The Jags (0-1) will start their weekend with their home opener against Marian on Friday at Noon at the West Indy Racquet Club. Later on Friday, IUPUI will welcome Eastern Illinois at 7 p.m. The Jags will then play their third-straight home match on Saturday (Jan. 26) when IUPUI welcomes Michigan State at 8 p.m.
The weekend will end on the road as IUPUI will head north to West Lafayette for a meeting against Purdue. The match against the Boilermakers will start at 3 p.m., on Sunday (Jan. 27).
IUPUI will look to get on the scoreboard after starting their season with a 7-0 loss to Kentucky. Freshman
Alex Jochim played the closest match against the Wildcats, falling 6-7, 4-6 in the No. 2 singles match.
IUPUI played Eastern Illinois, Michigan State and Purdue last season picking up a 5-2 win over Eastern Illinois. The Jags fell 2-5 to Michigan State in the spring season opener and were downed 0-7 to
Purdue later in the season.
The match against Marian will be the first time since 2014 that IUPUI took on the Knights. IUPUI came away with a 6-1 win in that match.
