WOMEN'S BASKETBALL HITS THE ROAD TO TAKE ON MILWAUKEE

IUPUI will begin a four-game road trip with a matchup against the Panthers on Thursday (Jan. 24).

INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI women's basketball takes its three-game winning streak on the road as the Jags will head to Wisconsin to take on Milwaukee on Thursday night (Jan. 24). The game against the Panthers will begin at 8 p.m. ET and will be streamed on ESPN+.

The Jags earned their third-straight win with another blowout victory, beating UIC 71-43. IUPUI was led by Katelyn O'Reilly, who scored 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting and pulled down six rebounds. Macee Williams continued her efficient play, shooting 6-for-9 and scoring 15 points while also tying for the team lead with Allex Brown, grabbing seven rebounds. Sydney Roule, who went 4-for-6 from deep, added 12 points.

IUPUI never trailed in the game and built a 34 point lead in the third quarter. The Jags did most of their damage in the first quarter, shooting over 57 percent from the field

Right out of the gates, IUPUI took control of the game with eight-straight points. The game started with a three by Sydney Hall and then Williams took over with a jumper and a three-point play. The quarter ended with the Roule hitting back-to-back threes to put the Jags up 24-10.

The run continued in the second with a layup by Sims and two more threes by Roule. After another three-point play by Williams, the Jags had scored 17-straight points to push their lead to 35-10. The Jags hit their biggest lead of the half at 28 points after a jumper by Hall and layup from O'Reilly.

IUPUI began the second half with a 12-0 run that featured back-to-back threes from Williams and Hoopingarner and saw its lead balloon to the game-high 34.

Milwaukee is 9-9 on the season and 4-4 in Horizon League play and have won its last four games, including a three-point win over Youngstown State and a victory at Detroit the last time the Panthers took the court. The Panthers are led by Megan Walstad who is scoring 11.4 points per game and is pulling down 5.4 rebounds to lead the team. Jamie Reit is second on the team with 10 points per contest.

All-time, the Jags and the Panthers are tied in their series 2-2. The two teams split their meetings last season with both teams winning on the other's home court. In the first meeting Tamya Sims hitting a buzzer beater in her hometown to give the Jags the win. Milwaukee earned a win in the Jungle 60-67.

Jags Extinguish Flames
  • IUPUI tied a season-high with 13 steals against UIC. Macee Williams and Sydney Hall led the way for the Jags with three steals each.
  • IUPUI dished out 19 assists against UIC, led by five from Agatha Beier and four each from Macee Williams and Holly Hoopingarner. IUPUI's lowest assist margin in its five Horizon League wins is 16 against Northern Kentucky.
  • IUPUI scored 44 points in the first half against UIC, the second-straight game topping the 40-point mark in the first 20 minutes. The 44 points IUPUI scored is the second-most on the season behind the 59 against Purdue Northwest in the season opener.
  • The Jags shot 37.5 percent from the field (9-for-24) which is the second-highest mark in Horizon League play for IUPUI.
  • Once again, IUPUI dominated on the glass, outrebounding UIC 45-26 and pulled down 20 offensive rebounds. This led to the Jags outscoring the Flames 20-3 in second chance points.
  • IUPUI forced 20 turnovers and scored 32 points off of those turnovers, to just 15 for UIC.
Three-Game Domination
  • In the Jags current three-game winning streak, IUPUI has not trailed by more than one point and has been behind for just 51 seconds.
  • The Jags outscored Detroit Mercy, Oakland and UIC by an average of 78.3 to 47.7 with the 28 points win over UIC the lowest margin of victory in the streak.
  • Jumping out early against opponents has been key for the Jags as IUPUI has held at least a 10-point lead at the half in all three games.
  • IUPUI is shooting 40 percent from the field and holding their opponents to just 34 percent from the field over the last three games.
  • Rebounding has been key for IUPUI as the Jags are outrebounding their last three foes by an average of 48 to 25.3, including a 68 to 26 advantage on the offensive glass.
Magic Number 70
  • Scoring 70 points is an important sign for the Jags under head coach Austin Parkinson. In Parkinson's first eight seasons, IUPUI is 69-13 when hitting the 70-point mark. In those 13 losses, the most points scored by the Jags in regulation was 74 points. If IUPUI scores 75 points in regulation, the Jags are 58-0 under Parkinson.
  • The most points ever scored in a loss by the Jags under Parkinson was 83 in a 96-83 overtime loss to Miami (Ohio) in 2017.
  • IUPUI had won its last ten games when scoring at least 70 points before losing to Southern Illinois. IUPUI has since won four-straight when hitting the 70 points mark. All five conference wins have come with IUPUI reaching 70 points.
Hall of Points
  • Sydney Hall is the active leading scorer for IUPUI with 905 points.  With another 95 points this season, Hall could become the 25th player in school history to reach the 1,000 career point mark.
  • Hall is also the active leader in three-point shots made, having hit 190 in her career. Hall is now third all-time in school history and is 37 threes away from becoming the all-time three point shooter.
  • Hall is just seven three-point attempts away from tying the most attempted threes in IUPUI history.
The Williams Way
  • Macee Williams leads the Horizon League with 18.7 points per game and is third in the league at 7.9 rebounds per game
  • Williams has been named Horizon League Player of the Week three times, the most in the league.
  • During the Jaguars three-game winning streak, Williams is averaging 18.7 points in just 20 minutes per game.
  • Williams ranks 13th in the NCAA with 132 made field goals.
