INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI women's basketball is looking to sweep a three-game home stand as the Jaguars will take on UIC on Saturday (Jan. 19) at 2 p.m. in the Jungle. The game against the Flames will be streamed on ESPN3 with Scott Agness on the play-by-play call.
The Jags are coming off its second-straight win of at least 29 points after beating Oakland 82-53 last Sunday (Jan. 13.). IUPUI shot 45 percent from the field against the Golden Grizzlies and was led by
Macee Williams who scored 22 points in just 24 minutes. Two other Jaguars also reached double-figures with
Katelyn O'Reilly scoring 13 points on 5-for-5 shooting and
Morgan Allen scoring 10.
IUPUI's defense has shut down opponents its last two games allowing an average of 50 points. IUPUI held Oakland to just 33 percent shooting and took control of the game allowing just five points to the Golden Grizzlies in the third quarter. The Jags outscored Oakland 19-5 in the third quarter.
UIC comes in to the game with a 3-14 record and a 1-5 mark in Horizon League play. The last time UIC took the court, they were beaten 42-36 by Detroit Mercy. The Flames shot just 24.4 percent from the field and 61 percent from the free throw line in the game. UIC's defense did hold Detroit Mercy to just 24.6 percent shooting and Jada Nneji blocked 13 shots and picked up 12 rebounds.
This will be the fourth meeting all-time between UIC and the Jags with the previous three happening the past two seasons. IUPUI and UIC met the year before the Jags joined the Horizon League with IUPUI winning 67-57 in Chicago. Last season IUPUI swept UIC winning 82-46 in the first meeting before winning 68-43 at home.

Jags De-claw the Golden Grizzlies
- IUPUI dominated Oakland from the free throw line hitting 90 percent from the charity stripe, going 27-30 as a team. It was a season-high in attempts and makes for IUPUI.
- Both Macee Williams and Morgan Allen were a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line against Oakland.
- IUPUI played a fairly clean game against Oakland, only committing 12 fouls and allowing the Golden Grizzlies to get to the free throw line just 14 times.
- The Jaguars allowed just five points in the third quarter against Oakland. It was a season-low allowed in a quarter for IUPUI. IUPUI has now held five of its six Horizon League opponents to single digits in at least one quarter, the only exception being Youngstown State which the Jags held to 11 in the first quarter.
- Macee Williams scored 22 points against Oakland on an impressive 7-for-10 shooting. It was the eighth time this season that Williams has reached the 20 points mark, tops in the Horizon League.
Wins in the Horizon
- In the four games IUPUI has won in Horizon League play, the Jags are scoring 77.2 points per game and allowing just 49.5 points. IUPUI is shooting a blistering 43 percent from the field in those four wins led by Williams who is hitting 74 percent of her shots in those four games.
- IUPUI is also taking advantage of its time at the free throw line, getting to the line 20-times more than their opponents (88-68). The Jaguars are shooting 75 percent from the stripe in their four Horizon wins.
- IUPUI is also dominating on the glass in their four wins, outrebounding opponents by an averaging of 45 to 27.8. The Jags have pulled down 180 rebounds and have allowed 111 rebounds. The Jags have done a lot of damage on the offensive glass with 73 offensive boards to just 37 for their four opponents.
- In the four wins in Horizon League play, IUPUI has moved the ball well handing out 73 assists in four games, an average of 19.25 assists per game. Holly Hoopingarner and Agatha Beier have each had 14 assists while Katelyn O'Reilly and Sydney Hall have each dished out 13.
Williams Does it Again
- For the third time this season, Macee Williams was named Horizon League Women's Basketball Player of the Week after dominating performances against Detroit Mercy and Oakland. Williams averaged 20.5 points in just 22 minutes per game while shooting 92 percent from the field. The sophomore scored 19 points on 8-for-9 shooting against Detroit Mercy and pulled down seven rebounds. Williams followed up that performance with 22 points and eight boards against Oakland. Williams shot 7-for-10 from the field and hit 8-for-8 from the free throw line.
- Williams is currently averaging 18.9 points per game to lead the Horizon League and is tied for third in the league with 8.0 rebounds.
Magic Number 70
- Scoring 70 points is an important sign for the Jags under head coach Austin Parkinson. In Parkinson's first eight seasons, IUPUI is 68-13 when hitting the 70-point mark. In those 13 losses, the most points scored by the Jags in regulation was 74 points. If IUPUI scores 75 points in regulation, the Jags are 58-0 under Parkinson.
- The most points ever scored in a loss by the Jags under Parkinson was 83 in a 96-83 overtime loss to Miami (Ohio) in 2017.
- IUPUI had won its last ten games when scoring at least 70 points before losing to Southern Illinois. IUPUI has since won four-straight when hitting the 70 points mark. All four conference wins have come with IUPUI reaching 70 points.
Hall of Points
- Sydney Hall is the active leading scorer for IUPUI with 900 points. With another 100 points this season, Hall could become the 25th player in school history to reach the 1,000 career point mark.
- Hall is also the active leader in three-point shots made, having hit 189 in her career. Hall is now third all-time in school history and is 38 threes away from becoming the all-time three point shooter.
- Hall is just 10 three-point attempts away from tying the most attempted threes in IUPUI history.
