CHICAGO – IUPUI's men's tennis team fell just short of a conference win against UIC, falling to the Flames 4-3 on Saturday (April 7). The Jags also lost 5-2 to cross-town foe Butler on Friday (April 6).
 
To begin the weekend, IUPUI (7-14, 1-3 Horizon) took on Butler but fell to the Bulldogs, 5-2. Butler took the doubles point winning all three matches.
 
In singles play, Ethan Mardanus-Budiono kept his hot streak going with a three set win, winning 6-3, 6-7 (7-2), 10-7. David Beasley earned the other singles win for the Jags, also winning in three sets. The first two sets for Beasley went to tiebreaks with Beasley taking the first set 7-6 (7-3) and losing set two 6-7 (8-10), before winning the third set 10-7.

To finish off the weekend, IUPUI traveled to Chicago to continue Horizon League play at UIC.
 
The Jags began well, earning the doubles point with wins at No. 1 by Bradley Luetschwager and Kyle Weaver and No. 2 by Mardanus-Budiono and Jac Newis.
 
IUPUI then pulled to within one win away from taking the match as Beasley won at No. 1 6-2, 6-3, and Mardanus-Budiono won at No. 6, 6-1, 6-2. IUPUI's hope of a second conference win was dashed as UIC would take matches two through five and earn the 4-3 win.
