Indianapolis - The Jaguars got off to a good start on the weekend with a win over Chicago State on Friday (March 2). IUPUI earned a 5-2 victory against the Cougars, taking the doubles point after #
David Beasley# and #
Grant Esposito# won the No. 2 match 7-6, (7-3).
In singles play, #
Bradley Luetschwager# earned a quick 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5. IUPUI closed out the match with three sets wins from #
Sean Bailey# at No. 3 (4-6, 6-1, 6-2) and #
Jac Newis# took the No. 1 match 6-4, 0-6, 6-3.
IUPUI lost its first home match of the season the following day, losing a close 4-3 match to Marquette.

Ethan Mardanus-Budiono# and Newis took the No. 2 doubles match, 6-4 but Marquette won the doubles point, pulling out a 7-6 win at the No. 3 spot.
Luetschwager picked up another singles win, taking the No. 5 match 6-4, 6-3 and Beasley also won his No. 2 match in straight-sets, 7-6, 7-5. The last IUPUI point came from Mardanus-Budiono at No. 6, coming back to win after dropping the first set 6-7, 6-4, 6-4.
The Jags finished the weekend with a 7-0 loss to Purdue.
The Boilermakers took the doubles point, taking the No. 1 and No. 2 matches. The third match did not get finished but the team of Beasley and Esposito were tied at 6.
Four of the singles matches went in favor of Purdue in straight sets. Beasley forced his match to three sets before falling 6-3, 6-7, 10-6 and Luetschwager won the first set before falling in three sets 6-7, 6-1, 6-3.
The Jaguars will have a break coming up before playing their next match on March 24 when IUPUI opens its Horizon League schedule at Detroit Mercy.
