INDIANAPOLIS – After spending their last three games on the road, the Jaguars return home to the Jungle to play Northern Iowa on Friday (Nov. 30) at 7 p.m. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Andrew Kappes on the play-by-play call.
IUPUI (5-1) is coming off a 63-61 win over VCU as
Holly Hoopingarner led the Jags, matching her career-high with 23 points. The game featured multiple runs by both teams with the Jags jumping out to an early lead only to find themselves down in the fourth quarter. IUPUI held VCU scoreless for almost eight minutes in the fourth quarter as the Jags clawed back in front. After
Macee Williams gave the Jags a one-point lead,
Sydney Hall hit a three to put IUPUI up four. Hoopingarner closed out the game from the free-throw line making six free throws.
The Jags now welcome a 3-3 Northern Iowa team to the Jungle for the third meeting in three-straight years with the Panthers. IUPUI took last season's meeting at Northern Iowa by a score of 54-48 but lost the first matchup between the two schools 69-62 two seasons ago in Indianapolis.
QUOTABLE
"Northern Iowa is one of the most disciplined and best coached teams we will play all year," said head coach
Austin Parkinson. "They run really good stuff and have good inside-out balance. After being on the road, our kids are looking forward to being back home."
QUICK NOTES (full game notes)
Clawing past VCU
	- IUPUI was led by Holly Hoopingarner's 23 points, matching her career-high, in the win over VCU for the Jags second-straight win. Hoopingarner also matched a career-high hitting eight free throws, going a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe.
- The Jaguars bounced back from a horrible shooting night behind the arc against UT San Antonio (2-for-18) by going 10-for-21 from deep against the Rams. Four Jags hit at least two threes, led by Hoopingarner who went 3-for-5 from beyond the arc.
- For the first time all-season, IUPUI made more three-point baskets (10) than two-point baskets (8). The Jags were even behind and inside the arc against Wisconsin making 10 of each shot. The last time IUPUI made more threes than twos in a game was at Denver on Feb. 8, 2017 when the Jags hit 13 threes and nine twos.
- The Jags continue to dominate from the free throw line as they hit 17-of-23 from the free throw line. IUPUI has made at least ten free throws in every game this season and taken at least 20. IUPUI's last streak of at least six games with 20+ free throws was a ten-game streak from Feb. 6 to March 20 of 2014.
- The Jags 18 field goals against VCU were the lowest made of the season.
- IUPUI held a 34-32 lead at the half after Sydney Roule scored the final five points of the second quarter, including hitting a three as time expired in the half. The Jags have now held the lead at half time in all six games this season.
- For the third time this season, IUPUI has trailed with five minutes left in the game. IUPUI is 2-1 in those three games.
Owning the Glass
	- IUPUI has a +8.8 rebounding margin over opponents this season. IUPUI is 5-0 in games where it has grabbed more boards than its opponents. The only loss of the season, an overtime loss to Wisconsin, IUPUI was outrebounded by nine.
Home Sweet Home
	- IUPUI is 2-0 at home with a 61-point win against Purdue Northwest and a 1-point win over UT Martin. The Jags enjoy shooting in their own gym, hitting 45.7% of their shots in the Jungle while only hitting 35.5% from the field outside of Indianapolis.
- In the two games at home, three Jaguars are averaging at least 14.5 points. Macee Williams leads the team with 19.0 ppg, followed by Katelyn O'Reilly (17.5 ppg) and Holly Hoopingarner (14.5).
- Austin Parkinson's squad has won 83 games in the Jungle, the most under any coach in IUPUI history.
- The Jags are looking for their first 3-0 start at home since a 6-0 start in 2015-16.
20+ Point Outbursts
	- IUPUI has had a 20+ point scorer in every game this season with Hoopingarner the last to do it, scoring 23 points against VCU.
- The last time IUPUI has had six-straight games with a 20+ point scorer was in 2003. Since 2001, no IUPUI team has had seven-straight games with a player scoring 20 points.
- Macee Williams scored 20+ points in four-straight games before scoring 13 against VCU. Williams became the first player since Danielle Lawrence in 2016 to score 20+ points in four-straight.
Hot Starts
	- Getting off to a hot start has been key for the Jags as IUPUI has outscored their opponents 104-79 in the first quarter and 116-82 in the second quarter. IUPUI only holds a 102-100 advantage coming out of halftime and a 98-79 lead in the final frame.
