KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – IUPUI men's tennis freshman
Alex Jochim continued his strong play during his first fall season, picking up the Jags only main draw singles win and earned a doubles win with
Bradley Luetschwager at the ITA Regionals over the weekend.
Jochim began his tournament in singles play with a 7-6 (5), 6-4 win over Xavier's Graft. In his second match of the tournament, Jochim met up with the No. 18 seed Tosetto from Tennessee Tech and was defeated 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles play, the squad of Jochim and Luetschwager picked up an 8-5 win over a duo from Dayton before falling 8-6 to a Kentucky squad in round two.
After dropping his opening match in three sets (6-4, 6-7(3), 6-1), Luetschwager went on a run in the consolation bracket. Luetschwager picked up wins against Wright State's Bourghelle (6-4, 6-2) and Middle Tennessee State's Edge (6-1, 1-6, 10-7) before falling in three sets to Tennessee Tech's Kontopoulos 6-7(4), 6-2, 10-7.
Sean Bailey and
Ethan Mardanus-Budiono were the other Jaguars to compete in the tournament, with both dropping their first round matches in straight sets.
IUPUI will conclude fall play at the Purdue Black and Gold on October 26-28.
