GREEN BAY, Wis – IUPUI begins its second half of the Horizon League schedule with a game against the team the Jags are tied with atop the standings.
IUPUI (16-4, 8-1 Horizon) will take on No. 22/21 Green Bay at the Kress Center on Sunday afternoon (Jan. 28) at 2 p.m. ET with the Jags seven-game road winning streak on the line.
The game can be seen on ESPN3 and Scott Agness will have play by play on IUPUIJags.com.
Both teams come in to the matchup with 8-1 records after the first half of the Horizon League slate, but Green Bay owns the head-to-head matchup against the Jags, having beaten IUPUI in Indianapolis earlier this year.
In the first game against the Phoenix, IUPUI was shut down, held to a season low 34 points and 25 percent shooting by the best defense in the country. Green Bay allows a nation low 45.7 points per game and is second in opposing field goal percentage at 30.8 percent.
IUPUI will look to take some of the momentum from its last win, a 70-68 victory over Milwaukee, that finished with
Tamya Sims beating the buzzer with a layup. Sims finished the game with 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting, none bigger than the last.
Macee Williams led the Jags with 22 points on 11-for-13 shooting as all five Jaguar starters finished with double figures.
Jenna Gunn scored 13, including a career-high three threes and
Sydney Hall and
Danielle Lawrence scored 10 each.
The Jags finished with 16 assists and will need to keep the ball movement going against Green Bay. The Phoenix (18-2, 8-1 Horizon) are riding a seven-game winning streak after losing to Northern Kentucky and have not allowed an opponent to score more than 56 points since the loss.
Jessica Lindstrom leads the Phoenix with 14.5 points per game and 9.9 rebounds a contest while Allie LeClaire is scoring 13.0 per game. The last time Green Bay took the court was on Friday (Jan. 26) and the Phoenix beat UIC, 65-36, shutting down the flames in the second half giving up just 12 points in the second half.
"Green Bay is really good at home and continues to be one of the best defensive teams in the country, so we have quite a challenge," said head coach Austin Parkinson. "We need to take care of the ball and play solid team defense."
