INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI women's tennis team will spend this weekend on the road with two matches in the state of Illinois.
On Friday, IUPUI (0-1) will be in Edwardsville, Ill., to take on the SIU-Edwardsville Cougars at 3 p.m. The Jags took part in the SIU-E Indoor Invite in the fall season and had two players take on a player from SIU-E in the tournament.
Samantha Mayer lost 6-3, 6-3 in her match and
Krystal Grubb fell 4-6, 6-2, 10-7.
The Jags and the Cougars met last season in Indianapolis with SIU-E coming out on top 7-0. In the match,
Molly Nguyen and
Marina Schneiger did earn a win in their doubles match, 6-4 at the No. 3 spot.
The match against the Jags will be the first of the season for SIU-E.
On Sunday (Jan. 28), the Jags will head to Chicago to take on Chicago State. Chicago State currently sits at 0-1 on the year but has three other matches before taking on the Jags.
IUPUI has not played Chicago State wince Feb. 3, 2013 when the Jags lost to the Cougars 3-4.
