IUPUI STAYS ON THE ROAD AS THE JAGS TAKE ON MILWAUKEE

Jags will play their third-straight game away from home to end the first half of the conference season against the Milwaukee Panthers.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The IUPUI Lady Jags will look to continue their strong play away from the Jungle when they take on Milwaukee on Friday (Jan. 26) at 8 p.m. ET.

The Jaguars (15-4, 7-1) finish up the first half of the Horizon League schedule looking for a school record six-straight road win. IUPUI will also be looking for its 11th road win of the season, the most since IUPUI won 14 away from home in 1989 as an NAIA school.  

IUPUI beat Wright State its last time on the court, holding the highest-scoring team in the league to 14 points under its season average. The Jags also held Chelsea Welch, the conference's leading scorer, to just 13 points.

Danielle Lawrence led all scorers with 25 points, reaching double-figures for the fifth-straight time and the seventh time in her eight Horizon League games. Tamya Sims had one of her best games as a Jaguar with 16 points on 7-for-12 shooting and pulled down a team-high eight blocks. Macee Williams also reached double-figures, scoring 13 points.

The Jags will bring in the league's second best scoring offense at 71.7 points per game and are giving up the second-fewest points in the Horizon League at 58.4 points per game. IUPUI is also shooting the highest field goal percentage in the conference at 45.5 percent. On the defensive end, the Jags sit second in the league at 9.2 steals per contest.

SCOUTING MILWAUKEE

The matchup with Milwaukee will be one of the tougher this season as the Panthers come in to the match having won five-straight games and are tied for second in the league with a 6-2 league record and sit at 15-5 overall. Milwaukee comes in third in the league, only allowing 59.2 points. The Panthers rely on a defense that is second in the league, allowing teams to shoot just 36.8 percent from the field.

The battle on the glass will be a focus as Milwaukee holds the best rebounding margin in the Horizon, pulling down 9.7 boards more than their opponents this year. The Panthers sit on top of the conference with 29.2 rebounds per game. The Panthers are also second best in the Horizon with 3.9 blocked shots per contest.

Senior Steph Kostowicz, a former high school teammate of Tamya Sims at Oak Creek High School in Milwaukee, leads the Panthers with 14.9 points per game and 8.4 rebounds. Jenny Linder is second in the team in both points (13.3) and rebounds (7.7) and Bailey Farley is also averaging double-figures at 11.2 points per game. In conference game, Linder is playing even better, averaging a double-double with 14 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per contest.

"Milwaukee has been playing some excellent basketball and are very good at home so this will be quite a challenge," said head coach Austin Parkinson. "They have a good mix of inside post threats surrounded by perimeter shooters."
