INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI women's tennis kicks off its 2018 season on Saturday (Jan. 20) night at the West Indy Racquet Club. The Jags' match against Valparaiso will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Head coach Marisa Arce enters her third year at the helm of the Jaguars. This year, IUPUI brings a roster with four seniors to the court, Valeriia Lavrenchuk, Samantha Mayer, Marina Schneiger and Hayley Trinkle. Junior Mariella Pessina, sophomore Molly Nguyen and freshman Krystal Grubb round out the Jags roster.

2018 marks the first season in the last three that IUPUI will begin their spring season at home. The Jags will take on Valparaiso for the fourth-straight year and IUPUI has won each of the last three meetings against the Crusaders. IUPUI took the meeting with Valpo last season in Valparaiso by a score of 4-3. Lavrenchuk, Pessina and Mayer all won their singles matches while the team of Lavrenchuk and Pessina won their doubles match.

After the match against Valpo, IUPUI will be on the road for their next three matches, beginning with a match at SIU-Edwardsville on Friday, Jan. 26.
