JAGS RETURN HOME TO JUNGLE TO TAKE ON DETROIT MERCY

IUPUI plays its first game at home in more than a month as the Jags begin a three-game homestand.

INDIANAPOLIS – After six-straight games on the road, the IUPUI women's basketball teams makes its return to the Jungle to start a three-game homestand. The Jags (11-3, 3-0 Horizon) play host to Detroit Mercy on Thursday night (Jan. 11) with the game set to tip at 7 p.m.

The Jags enter the matchup ranked No. 17 in the latest CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll, the highest ranking the Jags have earned so far this season.

The game will be broadcast on ESPN3 and will feature Scott Agness on the call. As part of a Red Out event, FREE ROAR t-shirts will be provided, while supplies last.

The Jags are coming off of a 65-43 win over Youngstown State in the best defensive performance of the season. The 43 points are the lowest the Jags have allowed this season and Youngstown State shot just 28 percent from the field, the lowest allowed by IUPUI.

Against the Penguins, Sydney Hall finished with a career-high 24 points on 6-for-7 from three point range. Freshman Macee Williams finished just one point shy of her third double-double of the season as she posted nine points and 10 rebounds.

Williams, who averaged 10.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in her last two games was named Horizon League Freshman of the Week for the fourth time this season.

Danielle Lawrence continues to be the leading scorer on the season for the Jags, averaging 16.7 points per game. After entering the top ten all-time in school history in total points against Cleveland State, Lawrence joined the 1,300 point club with her first point against Youngstown State.

Williams is second on the team with 11.7 points per game and is the leading rebounder on the squad, pulling down eight rebounds per contest. Williams also has the highest field goal percentage in the Horizon League making over 68 percent of her shots.

Tamya Sims (9.6 ppg) and Hall (9.0 ppg) are third and fourth, respectively on the team. Holly Hoopingarner is the leading scorer off the bench, scoring an average of 8.0 points per game.

SCOUTING DETROIT MERCY
Detroit Mercy has struggled early this season, sitting at 0-15 overall and 0-4 in the Horizon League. The last time the Titans were on the court they fell 60-88 to Wright State. Three Titans scored in double-figures, led by Anja Marinkovic who scored 19, but only three other players scored a point.
