IUPUI (0-3, 0-1 Horizon) dropped a 2-1 Horizon League opener to Cleveland State on Saturday night, yielding an own goal in the final minute of regulation. The Jaguars got a near perfect start when
Pedro Valladao tallied a goal in the game's second minute and held onto the advantage until early in the second half. However, CSU got even against IUPUI goalkeeper
Michael Buck before earning the victory with less than 40 seconds left before the final horn.
"You definitely don't want to lose that way, but these are the lessons we have to learn," head coach
Brian Barnett said afterwards. "It comes down to we made too many critical mistakes in critical areas of the game - we made two more than they did and lost on it."
For the year, Valladao leads the Jaguars with three points in three games while fellow Brazilian
Yan Souza has the team's other goal. Junior
Sam Gavin has IUPUI's other assist, having setup Valladao's goal on Saturday night. In goal, Buck has a 2.00 goals against average and 10 saves in his three starts. Gavin and

Seth Vang have four shot attempts each through the season's first three games.

Sean Siasia all made their season debuts against Cleveland State on Saturday. Macias played 31 minutes while Siasia went 30 minutes in the loss. Ayala came on in the second half and appeared for 16 minutes.
DePaul (2-3) has tallied 10 goals in just five games and dropped a pair of overtime contests already this season.
