TWELVE SOCCER STUDENT-ATHLETES EARN CSC ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT

Six members of the men's program and six members of the women's team honored

INDIANAPOLIS - Twelve members of the IU Indianapolis men's and women's soccer programs were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Teams, as announced on Tuesday (Nov. 25). Student-athletes must have a 3.50 grade point average, meet high athletic standards and be nominated by communication directors. 

The six men's honorees were Bali Esquivel, Brady Horn, Noah Kummrow, Cameron Maung-Maung, Jago Thompson-Roberts and Gijs Velings. Horn earned the award for a third straight year while Thompson-Roberts and Velings were honored for the second straight season. 

On the women's side, Sarah Bambrick, Lindsey Castillo, Emma Frey, Sarah Henson, Caroline Kelley and Kailyn Smith were awarded. Both Henson and Smith earned the award for a third time while Castillo, Frey and Kelley collected the honor for a second time in their careers. 

Below is a rundown of the 12 honorees with their majors included.

Gijs Velings, Jr., Midfielder (4.00 GPA, Sport Management)

Women's Honorees

Lindsey Castillo, Jr., Midfielder (3.92 GPA, Exercise Science)
Emma Frey, Sr., Midfielder (3.79 GPA, Exercise Science)
