WASHINGTON, D.C. - Former IUPUI standout Darell Combs will have his first scheduled NBA workout later this week when he showcases his skills for the Washington Wizards on Thursday (June 15). 

Combs was named honorable mention All-Summit League this past year after averaging 16.8 points, 2.9 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game while playing a team-high 32.2 minutes per contest. The 6-foot-2 guard connected on 63 threes and a team-high 100 free throws at a 75 percent clip. 

The Chicago-native became the 23rd member of IUPUI's 1,000 Point Club in the regular season finale against South Dakota on Feb. 25. He closed his career ranked 22nd on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,042 points in an IUPUI uniform. Since then, Combs also participated in Commencement on Mother's Day and registered a 3.5 grade point average for the spring semester. 

He's been working out in his hometown of Chicago, both on the floor and in the gym. 

"I've been working on my body," Combs said. "I gotta get my body right, but I've been working on everything."

Combs is expected to workout with Peter Jok (Iowa), Andrew White III (Syracuse), Amida Brimah (UConn), Marquis Wright (Siena) and Tim Kempton Jr. (Lehigh). 

Combs is represented by Future Sports Management and participated in an NBA Pro Day in Miami earlier this month. A lethal shooter with a quick release, Combs doesn't appear in any mock drafts but has definite aspirations of playing next season, likely overseas. He would follow in a long line of former Jaguars playing professionally, which includes Marcellus Barksdale, Mason Archie. Alex Young, Robert Glenn and current NBAer George Hill.
