BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Despite carding its best round of the 54-hole IU Invitational on Sunday (Apr. 9), the IUPUI women's golf team was unable to climb the leaderboard, finishing ninth at 964. The Jaguars posted a final round 318, but were still a distant ninth behind eighth-place Ball State. Host Indiana won the tournament at 884 and was trailed by Toledo (899), Western Michigan (901), Eastern Michigan (917) and Illinois State (930).
Indiana's Alix Kong collected medalist honors at 2-under 214 (70-73-71), defeating her closest competition by two strokes.
Junior
Aneta Abrahamova was the Jaguars' top performer, tying for 13th among the 53-player field at 11-over 227 (75-74-78). The Slovakian had a fairly clean scorecard on Sunday, making 12 pars and six bogeys in her final 18.
"I was striking the ball very well off the tee and hit many greens in regulation throughout the tournament," Abrahamova said. "Greens at IU are not the easiest ones, even though I felt like I could score better. My putting was off. I made many three putts and missed many birdie putts."
Abrahamova was IUPUI's low scorer for the sixth consecutive tournament and ninth time in 10 tournament entries this season.
Senior
MeKenzie Hilsmeyer and sophomore
Lindsey Hackleman finished tied for 42nd at 244. Hilsmeyer made three of the team's six birdies on Sunday while Hackleman's final round 77 matched the lowest 18 of her career. Hackleman made a pair of birdies and found major trouble on just one hole, making triple bogey on the par-4 No. 18 early in her round.
"It felt good to be able to pull out a good score for my team," Hackleman said. "I feel like I've been getting close to shooting a low round, so it's good to get to see a little bit of that. The greens were hard, so I tried to remain confident on the greens and trust my ability to read the putts. I hope I can keep it going and bring in some good scores to help the team as we round out the season."

"Next week we are hosting a tournament at Trophy Club that I'm looking forward to because we are going to play a match play tournament for the first time this year," Abrahamova said.
The Jaguars have one more tournament scheduled before The Summit League Tournament as they'll host the Jaguar/Crusader Challenge at the Trophy Club next Sunday and Monday. The two-day match play event will be played in bracket format with the tournament champ being decided on Monday (Apr. 17).
