MACOMB, Ill. – An opportunity to end their losing skid at a critical point in the season, the IUPUI women's tennis team (2-14, 1-1) will return to Summit League play Friday (March 31) on the road against Western Illinois (6-11) at 2 p.m. EST. The Jags are currently stuck in a four-meet losing streak with just five scheduled meets remaining on the docket for the 2017 season.
For the season, the Jags have been led by
Valeriia Lavrenchuk, who has posted a 7-9 record in dual-meet singles play, while also going 4-12 in doubles.
Samantha Mayer has three singles victories and leads the team with five wins in doubles action, tying
Sara Sherif for the mark. Sherif has put up four wins in singles play, mostly operating out of the No. 1 spot.
The Leathernecks are also currently riding a four-meet losing streak, while the team has yet to compete in a Summit League matchup. The Jags will begin the end-of-year conference slate for WIU, as they'll play six-straight against Summit teams. Common opponents with the Jags this season include Bradley, whom the Leathernecks lost to 1-6. The Jags mostly recently were defeated by the Braves, 2-5. Both teams also faced and lost to Missouri State, with the Jags dropping the meet 3-4. Western Illinois lost 2-5.
