Day #1 Results (.pdf)

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The IUPUI women's golf team finds itself amidst a tightly bunched field after two rounds of this week's Saluki Invitational, being held at Hickory Ridge Golf Course. The Jaguars posted rounds of 321 and 316 on a soggy Sunday (Mar. 26) and is sixth among the 13-team field at 637.

Host Southern Illinois is atop the group at 602, followed by Loyola (624), Lipscomb (631), Austin Peay (634) and SIU's 'B' team (635). Monday's final round is expected to begin at 9:00 a.m..

Junior Aneta Abrahamova continued her torrid play this spring, carding rounds of 74 and 72 to sit in third-place after two rounds. She closed strong, carding 34 on her final nine holes of the day with a pair of birdies.

"The golf course was very wet today and the wind picked up in the middle of the first round," Abrahamova said. "The weather got better during the second round and I was able to make some good pars and birdies on the back nine to finish even par."

Senior Lindsey Budnik ended her day at 162 (78-84) and fellow senior MeKenzie Hilsmeyer was at 164 (87-77) for the day. Erin Ingram was one shot back of Hilsmeyer at 165 (82-83) and sophomore Elizabeth Orr, the hero from last season's Saluki Invite victory, finished at 174 (89-85).

IUPUI was second among the field with 102 pars, but made just eight birdies as a team on Sunday. Abrahamova had a team-high five birdies on day one of the 54-hole tournament.

Sophomore Lindsey Hackleman is 23rd overall at 160 (80-80) while playing as an individual. Hackleman gained confidence by making a hole-in-one with her 9-iron on No. 8 during the team's practice round. Orr aced the same hole during last year's practice round as the Jaguars now have five holes-in-one in the past two years in practice.

SIU's Brooke Cusamano is atop the leaderboard at even par 144 (73-71) and Loyola's Elayna Bowser is second at 145 (72-73). Abrahamova is seeking her fourth collegiate tournament win and her first since last April.

Live stats of tomorrow's final round will be available on IUPUIJags.com and a full recap and results will be posted immediately afterwards.
