NO. 2 JAGS HEAD TO SIOUX FALLS FOR SUMMIT LEAGUE TOURNEY

The second-seeded Jaguars will face the No. 7 seed North Dakota State in the first round of Summit League action Saturday.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – After a lengthy regular season in which the IUPUI women's basketball team (22-7, 12-4) saw numerous historic accomplishments set and career milestones surpassed, the Jags have finally landed at the Summit League Tournament, in which the team will battle for supremacy amongst League opponents.  The Jags carry the No. 2 seed into the weekend and will face the No. 7 seeded North Dakota State Bison (6-23, 4-12) Saturday (March 4) at 3:30 p.m. EST.
 
Currently riding the momentum of a five-game winning streak and 11 of its last 12, IUPUI was tabbed the No. 2 seed for the third time in the last five seasons, as the Jaguars were just a game out of first place behind Western Illinois (23-6, 13-3).  The Jags defeated the Leathernecks in both meetings this season. 
 
For the year, the Jags are averaging 67.1 points per game while giving up a League-best 56.3 points per game.  IUPUI also averages shooting .442 from the floor, while surrendering a second-best .394 clip to opponents.  Danielle Lawrence is the fifth-leading scorer in the Summit League with 16.2 points per game, while teammate Mikale Rogers is second in blocks with 68.  Rogers has also added 13.2 points and 7.1 rebounds per contest. 
 
  • North Dakota State's offense is seventh in the Summit League with 63.7 points per game and is the second-worst shooting team at .393.
  • Despite the low shooting success, the Bison are the second-best rebounding team with 37.8 per game.
  • In the first meeting between these two teams earlier this season, Lawrence scored 27 points to lead both teams, going 8-for-16 from the field.
  • She led her team again in the second meeting, this time with 22 points on 8-for-12 shooting, including 3-for-5 from three-point range.
  • Four players finished in double-digit scoring in the Jags 76-53 road win against North Dakota State.
  • IUPUI led 42-22 at halftime in that game.
  • This season in home games against Summit League opponents, the Jaguars went 8-0, capping a perfect showing at the Jungle.
  • The team was just 4-4 in away Summit League games, but finished the year with a 4-1 record in their last five road contests.
  • Lawrence and Rogers both surpassed the 1,000-point career scoring plateau this season, with Lawrence at 1,028 points and Rogers at 1,215.
  • The Jags have six wins against top-100 Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) schools this season, including defeating #20 Missouri 73-45.IUPUI is currently ranked 58th.
  • IUPUI saw its biggest win this year come against IU-Northwest, when the Jags outscored their opponent 89-36 in a 58-point drubbing.
  • The Jags gave up a season-low 35 points in a 45-35 win over Indiana State on Nov. 30.
  • IUPUI scored a season-high 95 points in a 33-point win over Oakland City on Nov. 16.
  • This season, Head Coach Austin Parkinson became the winningest coach in program history, earning his 98th win against Illinois-Chicago on Nov. 19.He currently stands at 118 wins for his career.
  • The Jags have earned four Summit League Player of the Week awards this season, with three going to Rogers and one going to Lawrence.Both players were named First-Team All-Summit League selections last year.
  • When IUPUI defeated Purdue 67-62, it marked the first time ever that a Summit League team defeated the Boilermakers.
  • The Jaguars have defeated every Summit League team this season, and went a combined 4-2 against the No. 1, 3 and 4 teams this season.
