Day #2 Results (.pdf)

MESA, Ariz. - The IUPUI women's golf team fielded a much improved day two at the Clover Cup on Saturday (Mar. 18), carding a second round 307 at Longbow Golf Club to move their score to 629. The Jags sit in 15th place against a nationally elite field while Arizona State leads the pack at 556 (281-275). 

Houston (562), Florida State (563), Oklahoma (567) and TCU (579) round out the top five while host Notre Dame is sixth at 589. Individually, Oklahoma's Julienne Soo has fired back-to-back rounds of 6-under 66 to take a commanding lead into Sunday's final 18. Her current 132 is five shots clear of second-place Monica Vaughn from Arizona State. 

IUPUI junior Aneta Abrahamova notched her second straight round of even par 72 on Saturday and is tied for 19th among the 84-player field. She was steady, if not spectacular on Saturday, registering four birdies during her round. 

Teammate #MeKenzie Hilsmeyer# notched a second round 75 after a disappointing opening round 83. She went 3-under 33 over her final nine holes on Saturday, making four birdies on the back side. 

"Today was all about grinding," Hilsmeyer said. "It was hot and difficult to stay focused. I did my best with the game I brought to the course today and focusing on limiting my errors.

"It's a beautiful course and awesome tournament. When we keep that in perspective, we enjoy ourselves and play better golf."

Senior Lindsey Budnik posted a second round 81 and classmate Erin Ingram rounded out the scoring quartet with a 79. Ingram ranked among the daily leaders with five birdies, but also had a couple rough holes to elevate her score. Sophomore Lindsey Hackleman capped the lineup with an 88 for the second straight day. 

The Jaguars will pair with Indiana and UNCG and begin play at 8:00 p.m. Pacific (11 Eastern) on Sunday. A full recap and results will be posted to IUPUIJags.com immediately afterwards.
