MESA, Ariz. - The IUPUI women's golf team carded an opening round 322 on Friday (Mar. 19) at the Clover Cup, hosted by Notre Dame at Longbow Golf Club. Junior Aneta Abrahamova was exceptional on day one of the three-day event, firing an even par 72 to sit tied for 14th among the 84-player field. Collectively, IUPUI is 15th overall. 

Abrahamova made three bogeys and three birdies on Friday, including ending her day with a birdie on the long par-5 No. 9. 

"I hit a lot of solid shots on the fairways and very close to the pins," Abrahamova said. "I made some birdies but still left some out there today. It is a very good tournament with many great teams and players, which makes it a great challenge."

Florida State leads the field after a 9-under 279 while Arizona State is second at 7-under 281. Houston's Courtney Tibiletti and Oklahoma's Julienne Soo are tied atop the player leaderboard after both carded opening round 6-under 66's on Friday. 

While temperatures well exceeded 90 degrees, many of the Jaguars' found conditions to be less than favorable. Senior Lindsey Budnik ended her day at 8-over 80, including making a pair of birdies on her second nine. Senior MeKenzie Hilsmeyer got off to a slow start, but shot 38 on her second nine en route to an 11-over 83. 

The Jags' third senior, Erin Ingram, carded an 87, and opened her round with her lone birdie of the day. Sophomore Lindsey Hackleman rounded out the group at 88, including an early birdie on the par-3 No. 11. 

The Jaguars will be paired with Indiana and UNCG on Saturday (Mar. 20) and will begin play at 8:50 a.m. Pacific (11:50 a.m. Eastern). A full recap and results will be posted to IUPUIJags.com immediately afterwards.
