DENVER, Colo. – An opportunity to bounce back after a disappointing end to their winning streak, the IUPUI women's basketball team (17-7, 7-4) will head to the mile-high city to face Denver (6-17, 3-7) at 9 p.m. EST Wednesday night (Feb. 8).  The Jags topped Denver at home 71-49 back on Jan. 14 in the Jungle.

This season, the Jags are averaging 67 points per game on a .435 shooting clip, as Danielle Lawrence has led the charge with 15.9 points.  Mikale Rogers, a three-time Summit League Player of the Week this season, averages 13.9 points and 7.7 rebounds, part of a team 33.4 average.  Rogers rebounding average ranks third in the Summit League while she's also amassed a League second-best 58 blocks on the season.

The recent loss to Oral Roberts stopped the Jags second-longest winning streak of the season, and pushed IUPUI back to fourth-place in the Summit League standings.  South Dakota State, South Dakota and Western Illinois are the top three teams currently.  The Pioneers are coming off a commanding victory over Fort Wayne, in which Denver absolutely dismantled the Mastodons 78-50.  After having a losing-streak as long as seven games this season, the Pioneers have won two of their last three contests.

Although they're the second-lowest scoring offense in the Summit League at 63.9 points per game, the Pioneers have shot extremely well from three-point range, putting up a League third-best .370 percentage.  The Jags lead the Summit League with a .385 efficiency from that range.  While neither team has fared particularly well on the glass, the battle pits two teams on opposite ends in the foul game.  The Jags lead the League with just 14.6 fouls per game, while Denver is the second-to-last with 18.6 fouls per outing.

All-time against one another, IUPUI has owned the matchup, going 8-2 against Denver.  The Jags' last loss to Denver came during the 2013-14 season, in which IUPUI lost 69-76 in overtime at the Summit League tournament.  The only other loss came way back during the 1996-97 season.  As the season is drawing to a close, teams are vying for position in the Summit League standings and are looking to punch their ticket to the Summit League tournament.  With just a couple wins, the Jags will likely seal their fates and be Sioux Falls-bound come March.  Denver, meanwhile, is on the outside looking in, as the Pioneers are a half game behind Omaha for the final spot in the tournament standings.
