IUPUI HOST MIAMI IN ONLY HOME GAME IN DECEMBER

The Jags bring a three-game winning streak to their game against Miami on Wednesday night.

INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI Jaguars will look to win their fourth-straight game when they take on Miami (Ohio) on Wednesday in the Jungle at 7 p.m.

Head coach Austin Parkinson's squad plays its only home game in December against the Redhawks before heading out on the road for their next six games. The Jags are coming off of a four-game road trip where they won the last three, including a 76-52 win at Ohio in their last game.

Senior Danielle Lawrence has been on a tear recently, averaging 23.3 points in the last three games, including a career-high 38-point outburst in the Jags win over Memphis. Lawrence went 12-for-21 and 6-for-10 from deep against the Tigers. Coupled with her 23 points against Ohio, Lawrence was named Horizon League Player of the Week on Dec. 4 for the first time this season.

Lawrence leads the team with an average of 18.1 points per game and is currently third in the conference. She is also averaging 3.1 rebounds per game and 1.9 assists per game.

Freshman Macee Williams has been on fire early this season. Williams, who posted a career-high 18 points against UCF on Nov. 25, topped that with 19 points against Ohio. She finished one rebound away from a double-double with six of those rebounds on the offensive end. Williams is the leading rebound on the team with 7.7 rebounds and is second on the squad with 10.9 points per game.

The Jags have three other players averaging over eight points per game as Holly Hoopingarner is averaging 9.9 points per game, followed by Sydney Hall (9.1) and Tamya Sims (8.4). Sims has been a versatile weapon, averaging 5.0 rebounds, and leading the team with nine blocks.

Defense has been the calling card for the Jags this season, who are outscoring their opponents by over 16 points per game and are holding opponents to 39 percent shooting. IUPUI has not trailed in any of the six games they have won and are outscoring opponents 155-82 in the first quarter, as well as 125-95 in the second quarter.

SCOUTING MIAMI – Miami enters the game with a 4-3 record, with all three losses coming on the road in games against Purdue, Cincinnati and Loyola Marymount. Miami's offense is its calling card as the Redhawks are shooting 46 percent and scoring an average of 72.6 points per game. Miami is led by Indianapolis native Lauren Dickerson who is averaging 21.3 points per game whole shooting 47 percent from the field and 42 percent from the free-throw line. Dickerson is also leading the team with over six assists per game. Savannah Kluesner comes off the bench and is second on the team with an average of 10.4 points per game.

Rebounding has been a team effort for Miami as four players have an average of five rebounds per game or more. Kendall McCoy leads the team with 6.0 rebounds per game, followed by Molly McDonagh (5.9), Megan Galloway (5.4) and Kluesner (5.0).

LAST MATCHUP – The Jags and Redhawks met last season in Oxford with IUPUI coming out on top 65-53. Lawrence led IUPUI with 22 points and the Jags outscored Miami by nine in the final quarter after trailing by one entering the quarter. Former Jag, Mikale Rogers was second in the team with 12 points and Hall added 10. IUPUI shot 45 percent from the field and held Miami to just 34 percent shooting.

QUOTABLE – "This Miami team is led by a dynamic point guard who will be quite a challenge for us defensively. They have good size inside and use that effectively on the offensive glass," said Parkinson. "It's been awhile since out team has played at home so we are looking forward to being back in The Jungle."

ALL-TIME SERIES – IUPUI's win against Miami last season was the first time in four tries that the Jags had earned a win in the series. The three previous matches came in 2006 and 2007 with Ohio coming out on top by double-digits in each matchup.
