CINCINNATI, Ohio – Opening up the spring 2017 season, the IUPUI women's tennis team (0-2) lost both dual-meets with Cincinnati and Wright State this past weekend (Jan. 20-21), totaling scores of 0-7 and 1-6, respectively. The Jags were only able to secure one singles victory on the weekend.
Valeriia Lavrenchuk was the lone Jaguar to secure a victory, topping Karoline Haller of Wright State 4-6, 6-3, 10-6. She finished the weekend 1-1, while falling to 0-2 in singles play. She and teammate
Samantha Mayer put up a strong battle in doubles play, but ultimately fell 3-6 at Wright State.
Senior
Sara Sherif put up a strong showing in her singles bout with Wright State, as she captured the first set 6-2. She'd eventually fall 6-2, 3-6, 6-10.
The Jags will have a chance to rebound from the rough start next weekend (Jan. 27-28), when the team returns to the road for a pair of dual-meets. The Jags will begin with Bowling Green Friday (Jan. 27), before heading north to Kalamazoo, Michigan to battle Western Kentucky the following day.

Marina Schneiger made IUPUI history by becoming the first Jaguar to be ranked in singles play. She was tabbed the 111th best player in NCAA Division I women's tennis.
