FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IUPUI women's track team will continue its busy start to the indoor season on Saturday (Jan. 21) when the Jaguars compete in the Fort Wayne Duals, beginning at 11:00 a.m. inside the Gates Sports Center. It will mark the third straight weekend of competition for Head Coach
Antonio McDaniel's squad to start the indoor season.
McDaniel's team will run against athletes from Butler, Detroit, Fort Wayne, Valparaiso and Wright State on Saturday.Â
Freshman
Rachel Saylor will make her debut in the 400 while sophomore
Maggie Shields is set to take on the 800. A stout field in the mile will include
Allie Wright,
Katelyn Murphy,
Valeria Guzman and
Haley Welch. Wright has the team's fastest time of the year at 5:01.63 while Murphy has run 5:09.68.Â
In the 3K, sophomore
Alexis Lewandowski is the school record holder at 10:06.17 while freshman
Shelby Pake led the Jags at Purdue, running 10:33.22.Â
IUPUI will also have a pair of 4x400 entries, including a quartet of
Amairany Cruz,
Megan Zajac, Wright and Saylor. The other group will consist of Guzman,
Sarah Childs, Welch and Murphy.Â
