The Jags are coming off an afternoon win Saturday (Jan. 14) over Denver, in which the Jags snapped a three-game losing streak with an emphatic 71-49 victory. The 49 points posted by the Pioneers marked the fewest ever in head-to-head meetings with the Jags, as the 22-point margin of victory was the largest ever for IUPUI in those meetings.
On the year, the Jags are averaging 67.9 points per game while shooting .435 from the field and .384 from three-point range. The Jags have held opponents to 58.8 points a game and a .401 clip while outrebounding opponents 34.7-33.1. IUPUI averages 14.7 turnovers per game, but has forced nearly 16 per outing.
Danielle Lawrence continues to lead her team with 14.3 points per game while averaging just over 30 minutes.
Mikale Rogers has shot .459 from the field, averaging 13.9 points and 7.3 rebounds.
Sydney Hall averages 11.2 points while shooting an impressive .484 from three-point range, the second-best shooting efficiency in the entire Summit League. Teammate
Holly Hoopingarner actually leads the League with a 17-for-34 (.500) effort from beyond the arc.
Despite currently riding a three-game losing streak, Oral Roberts has had a comparable season to the national success IUPUI has enjoyed this year. As the Jags enjoyed making program history with wins over Missouri and Purdue earlier this season, the Golden Eagles also made noise in the national spotlight. In a matchup with the then 12th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners, the Eagles picked up a shocking 74-67 win (Dec. 4) in Oklahoma, rattling the national rankings. The Sooners have stayed in the top-25, and are currently ranked 20th. The Golden Eagles also had success against the Southeastern Conference (SEC), picking up a win over the Arkansas Razorbacks on the road, 70-60 (Dec. 21).
Oral Roberts current three-game skid has come against the three top teams in the Summit League standings currently, as the Golden Eagles started the downfall with an overtime 72-76 loss to Western Illinois on the road. The team then returned home and surrendered a pair of lopsided losses to South Dakota (Jan. 11) and South Dakota State (Jan. 14), with decisions coming by a 22 and 21 point margins, respectively. Despite the losses, the team still averages 68.6 points per game, while shooting .407 from the field. The Eagles have upped their shooting performance from beyond the arc against Summit League opponents, averaging a .406 clip from three-point range.
In their head-to-head meetings, the Jags have gone 14-19 all-time against the Golden Eagles. They've split their regular season meetings over the past two seasons, with the road team winning on both occasions last year. Thursday's contest marks the second in a string of three-straight home games for IUPUI, with the homestand set to wrap up Saturday (Jan. 21) against North Dakota State.
