YORKTOWN, Ind. - Senior MeKenzie Hilsmeyer led the way for the IUPUI women's golf team on the second and final day of the Ball State Cardinal Classic on Tuesday (Sept. 20), carding a final round 73 at The Players Club in Yorktown. 

Junior Aneta Abrahamova finished tied for 12th overall at 223 (74-75-74) and Hilsmeyer tied for 16th at 225 (78-74-73). As a team, IUPUI placed 12th at 925 (307-313-305). 

"I think an important factor in succeeding today was keeping the ball on the right side of the greens to give myself birdie opportunities," Hilsmeyer said. "We are going to put in some work in the next two weeks to get the team win at Butler."

Hilsmeyer was brilliant on Tuesday, keeping her score between 1-over and 1-under for the entire round. She posted three birdies and four bogeys in her round, ending her tournament at 225 (78-74-73), tied for 16th.

Junior Aneta Abrahamova continued her torrid play with a final round of 74, including three birdies on Tuesday. She ended her 54-hole event at 223 (74-75-74), tied for 12th of 90 players overall.

Behind her, senior Erin Ingram registered her best round of the week with a final day 77. She finished the event at 237 (78-82-77).

Senior Lindsey Budnik rounded out the Jaguars' scoring four with an 81 on Tuesday and closed her tournament at 244 (81-82-81). Sophomore Lindsey Hackleman ended the event just ahead of her at 242 (77-82-83).

Eastern Kentucky coasted to the team title at 874 and Toledo was runner-up at 882. EKU's Elsa Moberly collected medalist honors at 5-under 211, winning the event by three strokes over runner-up Kaitlyn Watkins of Western Michigan.

The Jags will be back on the links on Oct. 3-4 when they compete in the Butler Fall Invitational at Highland Country Club on the city's near Northside.
