WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - IUPUI junior
Aneta Abrahamova is in the mix for a fourth career tournament title at this week's William & Mary Invitational being played at the Kingsmill Resort River Course. The junior from Slovakia carded rounds of 73 and 76 on Sunday (Sept. 11) and is five shots off the individual lead heading into Monday's final 18, set to begin at 8:00 a.m..
Collectively, IUPUI is eighth of 11 teams in the field at 625 (309-316). Richmond leads the way at 599 and is followed closely by Seton Hall (603), Georgetown (604), UNC Greensboro (609) and UNC Wilmington (614). The Richmond duo of Isabella Rusher and Elsa Diaz are 1-2 on the leaderboard at 144 and 147, respectively.
Abrahamova is tied for fourth of 63 players after making five birdies on Sunday.
"Today I was able to hit lots of fairways and good approach shots, which sometimes turned into birdies," Abrahamova said. "My plan for tomorrow is to play shot by shot and hole by hole with good concentration."
Behind her, senior
Erin Ingram is tied for 28th at 156 (79-77) and fellow senior
MeKenzie Hilsmeyer is tied for 37th at 158 (78-80).
Like Abrahamova, Hilsmeyer ranked among the tournament leaders with five birdies while Ingram had a team-high 22 pars in her two rounds.
Senior
Lindsey Budnik is tied for 48th at 162 (79-83) and sophomore
Lindsey Hackleman is at 167 (82-85).
Both Ingram and Budnik made four birdies each on Sunday.
Monday's final round is expected to begin at 8:00 a.m.. The Jags will be paired with players from UNC Asheville and host William & Mary for Monday's final 18.
