Full Results (.html)QUINCY, Ill. - The IUPUI men's tennis team got a much needed win to open Summit League play on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 27), cruising past Western Illinois at the Quincy Racquet Club, 7-0. The win snapped the Jaguars' 11-match skid while Western Illinois dropped to 0-8 and 0-1 in The Summit League.
IUPUI (3-13, 0-1 Summit) breezed through doubles play, yielding just two games among three matches.
David Beasley and
Jose Calero earned a 6-0 sweep at No. 2 doubles and
Patrick McAuley and
Matt Moe also gained a sweep at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, the Jaguars won all six matches in straight sets, allowing WIU just five games in six matches.
Jac Newis won 6-1, 6-0 at the top spot and
Bradley Luetschwager followed suit with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles. Beasley cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3 and
Marcus Nalley earned a victory at the No. 4 spot.
McAuley and
Louis Sacks manned the bottom two spots in the order and won convincingly.
IUPUI will return to non-conference play next weekend as the Jaguars play at UIC on Saturday, Mar. 5 in Chicago. That match will start at 6:00 p.m..
