Full Results (.html)EAST LANSING, Mich. - The IUPUI men's tennis team's road woes continued as the Jaguars fell at Michigan State on Sunday night (Feb. 21), 7-0 inside the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility. IUPUI dropped to 2-12 on the season while Michigan State improved to 9-5.
Michigan State earned the doubles point with victories at the bottom two spots by 6-2 and 6-3 scores, respectively. MSU's Jasper Koenen and Billy Shisler knocked off IUPUI's
Jose Calero and
David Beasley at No. 2 while
Matt Moe and
Patrick McAuley were defeated at No. 3.
IUPUI's best effort among the six singles matches came at the No. 3 spot as Koenen and Beasley locked horns, splitting sets. With the team result already decided, Koenen edged Beasley in a 10-point tiebreaker, 11-9.
Jac Newis lost his match to Mac Roy at No. 1 singles by a 6-2, 6-4 score and
Bradley Luetschwager lost at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-2.
The loss was IUPUI's tenth straight, eight of which have come on the road. The Jaguars will be back in action against another Big Ten foe next weekend when IUPUI plays at Iowa in Iowa City on Feb. 26 at 11:00 a.m.. The Jags will open Summit League play the following day when they take on Western Illinois at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday (Feb. 27).
