WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Head Coach Austin Parkinson and the IUPUI women's basketball team (8-3) are slated to make a homecoming trip for the seventh-year leader, as the Jags will take on Purdue (9-4) at 12 p.m. EST Wednesday (Dec. 21) in West Lafayette.  Coach Parkinson played collegiately at Purdue and has a decorated resume as a Boilermaker.

This year, the Jags are shooting .441 as a team and averaging 70.5 points per game.  The Jags have also been a strong team from distance, shooting .380 from three-point range.  On the heels of just their third loss this season, the Jags still had a solid outing in the overtime game with Belmont, as IUPUI committed a season-low nine turnovers in the affair.  The Jags put on a 7-0 run near the end of regulation to force overtime, and actually had a chance to win it on a missed free-throw.  IUPUI outscores opponents by an average of 11.2 points per game, and has limited opponents to a sub-.400 clip this season.

Despite averaging 15.7 turnovers per game, the Jags still own a positive turnover margin, owning a +1.5 average ratio.  Regardless of their most recent lopsided performance on the glass, the team is also averaging 1.4 more rebounds than their season foes, logging 35.3 per game.  Against Belmont, the Jags lost the rebound battle 25-45.

Danielle Lawrence leads the team with a 15.6-point scoring average this year, and is one of three Jags in double-figures.  Mikale Rogers averages 14.0 points and 7.4 rebounds, while Sydney Hall averages 11.0 points.  Rogers also has 28 blocks this season, ranking as one of the top blockers in the Summit League.

Purdue is riding a six-game winning streak after starting the year 3-4.  The Boilermakers most recently defeated Eastern Michigan 77-50 Saturday (Dec. 17), and have outscored opponents in their last six games by an average of 19 points.  The team is 5-1 at home this season, and averages a .431 clip from field goal range and .335 from three-point range.  The Boilermakers are averaging 65.6 points while keeping opponents to just a .348 clip defensively.  In their history together, the Jags and Boilermakers have faced each other four times, dating back to the 2008 season.

Coach Parkinson played his college ball from 2000 to 2004, and was a four-year letterwinner as a Boilermaker.  He finished his career tied for tenth all-time at Purdue in assists, and led the team in that category during his sophomore and senior seasons.  Additionally, he led the Big Ten in assists-turnover ratio in three different seasons.  Since taking over the Jags, Coach Parkinson has faced his alma mater three times, with the most recent bout coming in Nov. 2013.  The Jags have never defeated Purdue.  This season, Coach Parkinson became the all-time winningest coach in program history, and currently stands at 104 wins.  His team defeated powerhouse Missouri of the SEC earlier this season, the first time the Jags have defeated a Southeastern Conference opponent.
