INDIANAPOLIS – Getting another chance to perform in front of their home fans, the IUPUI women's basketball team (0-1) will host Oakland City (0-1) Wednesday (Nov. 16) at 7 p.m. EST in the Jungle.  The game comes as part of the Give Thanks initiative, as fans can gain free admission by donating a non-perishable food item at the door.

In their only game of the season so far, the Jags came up just short in their bid to drop Northern Iowa Friday (Nov. 11), as IUPUI lost 62-69.  The Jags erased a 10-point halftime deficit in the game to lead by the end of the third quarter, but couldn't stop a 24-point fourth quarter by UNI.

The Jags were led in the game by Danielle Lawrence, who posted 13 points, four rebounds and four assists.  Mikale Rogers put up 11 points with a team-high seven rebounds while Sydney Hall added 11 points and six boards.  Holly Hoopingarner added nine points and three assists in her Jaguar debut.

As a whole, IUPUI shot .426 for the game from the field, also netting a .786 clip from the free-throw line (11-for-14).  The Jags equaled the Panthers output on the glass, with both teams collecting 30 rebounds.  IUPUI had 15 turnovers to 14 for UNI.

Oakland City lost a tight one to IU-Southeast recently (Nov. 12), falling in overtime 89-94.  The Lady Oaks were led by Olivia Carroll, who picked up 26 points in the outing, while teammate Maddison Ubelhor added 21.  The Oaks allowed the Grenadiers to make it to the free-throw line 25 times, converting 18 of them.  As a whole, Oakland City shot .425 from the field, including .346 (9-for-26) from three-point range.

The midweek matchup marks the final home game for IUPUI prior to the start of a two-game road trip, in which the team will travel to Chicago to face UIC (Nov. 19) followed by Virginia Commonwealth (Nov. 22).

This season, the Jags were picked to finish second in the preseason Summit League polls, with returning First-Team All-Summit League selections Lawrence and Rogers both being selected as preseason First-Teamers.  Head Coach Austin Parkinson needs just one win to tie the all-time mark at IUPUI, a record of 97 set by Kris Simpson in nine years with the Jags.  Parkinson is in just his seventh season.  The former Purdue Boilermaker has taken the Jags to three Women's National Invitation Tournaments (WNIT) in the past four seasons, the only such showings for the Jags in program history.

As part of the Give Thanks initiative, all IUPUI fans, both students and non-students alike, can gain admission to the game with the donation of a non-perishable food item at the door.  The donation will be given to Paws Pantry, the on-campus food pantry established to help Jaguars in our campus community.  We invite all fans to come pack the Jungle and help us in making it one of the toughest places to play in the Summit league.
