INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI women's golf team carded an opening round 307 at the Butler Fall Invitational at Highland Country Club on Monday (Oct. 3) and are 10 shots off the lead heading into Tuesday's final 18 holes. Indianapolis leads the seven-team field at 297 and host Butler is second at 303. 

IUPUI has a sizable 10-shot lead over fourth-place Marian and is 11 in front of fifth-place Eastern Illinois. Senior Erin Ingram is tied for second among the 46-player field after carding a 2-over 72 on Monday. 

Ingram was even par after 16 holes, but gave back a pair of shots with a double on her 17th hole before ending her round with a par. 

"I'm pretty happy with my first round. I had a few shots that I just threw away, but overall it's an improvement over how I've been playing in the tournaments leading up to this one," Ingram said. "I really love this course and I was confident about playing well here. I'm looking forward to tomorrow. I'm expecting the team score to be much lower."

Junior Aneta Abrahamova is tucked inside the top-10, tied for ninth at 76 and senior MeKenzie Hilsmeyer shot an opening round 77. 

Sophomores Lindsey Hackleman and Elizabeth Orr ended their first rounds at 82 to round out the lineup. 

Given the proximity to home, Head Coach John Andrews was able to enter a 'B' squad, which was led by senior Lindsey Budnik's 78 on Monday. Sophomore Nicole Toledano followed with an 84 in her season debut and sophomore Heidi Steinert fired an 85 in her first round of the year. 

UIndy's Emma Kieffer leads the field at 1-over 71. 

Play will resume with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday morning.
