MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The IUPUI women's golf team capped a busy Fall Break on Tuesday (Oct. 18) with split-squad efforts at the Memphis Women's Intercollegiate and Dayton Fall Invitational. In Memphis, the Jaguars carded a final round 315 en route to a final score of 959 (318-326-315) at Ridgeway Country Club.
Meanwhile, just more than 500 miles north, the Jaguars' reserves carded a final round 325 to finish at 649 (324-325) at NCR North.
Senior
MeKenzie Hilsmeyer led the way with a final round 73 at Ridgeway on Tuesday, charging up to a 33rd-place finish. Junior
Aneta Abrahamova just missed a top-10 finish, closing tied for 12th at 229 (74-76-79), while Hilsmeyer finished at 233 (78-82-73).
"Today I put yesterday's rounds behind me, kept it simple, and played with confidence," Hilsmeyer said. "I haven't putted well in awhile. Ridgeway is one of my favorite courses we play all year, so I was determined to leave with good lasting images.
"Everyone has something at the front of their minds to work on before we compete at another challenging golf course in Santa Clara in two weeks."
Senior
Erin Ingram ended her event at 244 (81-81-82) and classmate
Lindsey Budnik shot 257 (89-87-81) with a final round 81 on Tuesday.
Sophomore
Elizabeth Orr closed at 262 (85-92-85).
Host Memphis won the event by a 17-shot margin, finishing at 895. Houston Baptist was second at 912 and Murray State was third at 913. Cal State Fullerton's Martina Edberg cruised to medalist honors, shooting 2-under 211 to win by seven strokes.
At Dayton, junior
Sara Saetre continued to sparkle as she paced the Jaguars for the second consecutive day. She finished with a 6-over 76 to end her tournament at 155 (79-76), tied for 19th among the 84-player field.
"Today I hit a lot of good golf shots, considering how windy it was," Saetre said. "My short game was really good the majority of the round. It's too bad I finished plus-six my last six holes, but overall, I'm happy with the result."
Junior
Nicole Toledano and sophomore
Lindsey Hackleman were just off her pace, each carding rounds of 80. Toledano finished her tournament at 159 (79-80), tied for 32nd, while Hackleman ended at 166 (86-80).
Sophomore
Heidi Steinert carded rounds of 80 and 89 while true freshman
Mikala Mawhorter shot 181 (90-91) in her second collegiate tournament.
Findlay won the tournament title at 589, thanks to a final round 290 on Tuesday. Findlay's Shelby Warner collected medalist honors at 1-over 141, fueled by Tuesday's 3-under 67.
