Live StatsAudioThe IUPUI women's basketball team travels to Macomb, Ill. on Saturday (Jan. 9) for a 5:30 p.m. ET game with Summit League foe Western Illinois. The Jaguars will look to bounce back from a rare home loss to Oral Roberts (52-47) last Sunday (Jan. 3).
IUPUI enters Saturday with a 10-5 (1-1) record. The Jags hope to continue their balanced offensive attack and get back to their winning ways. The offense has been led by a trio of scorers averaging double figures in senior
Akilah Sims, sophomore
Danielle Lawrence and junior
Mikale Rogers.Â
The Jags got a big contribution from senior
Shaquira Scott in a losing effort against Oral Roberts last weekend. Scott poured in 13 points and six rebounds in just 26 minutes played. Freshman
Sydney Hall is the fifth starter making valuable contributions in late game situations. Hall leads the squad in 3-point field goals made hitting some game-changing shots down the stretch in recent games.Â
Not surprisingly, IUPUI is 5-0 when shooting above 50 percent this season. The Jags shot just 29.4 percent from the floor against ORU. They're also 7-0 when committing less turnovers than opposing teams. However, IUPUI is a surprising 3-0 when making less 3-point field goals than opponents this season.Â
Western Illinois (9-7, 2-1) enters Saturday after a tight road win against Fort Wayne on Thursday (Jan. 7), 78-74. The Leathernecks also boast a trio of double-digit scorers. In their game with Fort Wayne, Michelle Maher, Emily Clemens and Sophie Reichelt each broke the 20-point mark. The trio combined for 65 of WIU's 78 points on a combined 55 percent from the floor.Â
Saturday's (Jan. 9)Â game will take place in Macomb, Ill. at 5:30 p.m. ET. IUPUI's Scott Agness will have the call on IUPUIjags.com just prior to tip.Â
