Full ResultsMILWAUKEE - In their first of three matches this weekend, the Jags fell to Green Bay Thursday night (Jan. 21), 6-1. IUPUI (1-2) only won one singles match on the night.
Green Bay (1-0) was picked to finish first in the Horizon League this year and took the first two doubles matches 6-4 and 6-1 to win the doubles point. IUPUI's No.1 duo of
Bradley Luetschwager and
Kyle Whittaker were 5-5 in their match when the doubles ended.Â
In singles play, the Phoenix took the first two matches against
Jac Newis and
Marcus Nalley at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, each by a score of 6-1, 6-2, to take a 3-0 lead. IUPUI's No. 5
Jose Calero fell in a tight match 6-4, 6-3, which gave Green Bay a 4-0 match win.
With the match already decided, sophomore
David Beasley got the Jags a point with a three set victory in his No. 3 match, 6-4, 4-6, (10-4). Beasley has won two of his three singles matches this spring.Â
Junior
Akshay Verma, fell in his No. 5 match 7-6, 6-1, while Luetschwager, playing No. 6 for IUPUI in singles, lost in three sets, 0-6, 6-3, 6-4.Â
The Jags will be back in action on the court tomorrow (Jan. 22) with a doubleheader against Cardinal Stritch and Marquette.Â
