Photo GalleryINDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI men's tennis team sent its seniors out on a positive note by closing out its regular season with a 5-2 win over Detroit Sunday afternoon at the West Indy Racquet Club on Senior Day.
The win improved IUPUI to 10-16 on the season and 9-6 at home.
Seniors
Patrick O'Neill,
Adam Reinhart and
Alex Toliver all contributed in doubles play as the Jaguars swept all three matches to take the one-point lead. O'Neill and Reinhart teamed up for an 8-3 win at one doubles, before Toliver and
Jose Calero posted a 8-5 win at the two spot. To conclude doubles play,
David Beasley and
Akshay Verma also notched an 8-5 win.
In singles play, five of the six matches were decided in straight sets with IUPUI winning four of the six matches. Wins for the Jags came courtesy of Toliver at the second spot (6-4, 6-4), Reinhart at the third position (6-4, 7-5), Beasley at the four (6-3, 6-2) and
Marcus Nalley at the sixth spot (6-3, 6-0).
Up next for the Jags will be the Summit League Tournament in Fort Wayne, Ind., April 24-26. IUPUI is the No. 2 seed in the tournament and receives a first-round bye before playing the winner of Fort Wayne and Western Illinois on Saturday, April 25, at 1 p.m.
