Final Results (.pdf)NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – The IUPUI women's golf team capped two days of match play with a 3-2 win over Central Connecticut State at Purgatory Golf Club on Saturday (Apr. 18). CCSU ultimately won the team title with 10 points over three matches while Green Bay finished second with eight points.
IUPUI was third with 7.5 points and Valparaiso rounded out the scoring with 4.5 points.
On Saturday, it was IUPUI's three seniors that fueled the 3-2 win with
Lauren Mains,
Carolyn Kupchik and
Kelli Witt all winning their matches. Witt went undefeated for the weekend, only playing Saturday's round after missing Friday due to academic obligations. Both Mains and Kupchik finished at 1-1 for the event.
"It was good to see our seniors get wins," IUPUI Head Coach
John Andrews said. "That was really fun to see. I think the girls really enjoy playing match play and we had quite a few people who were able to come out and see us play up here. All in all, it was a good event for us."
Witt made a birdie on her final hole to claim a win over CCSU's Cecy Gutierrez while Kupchik won her match by a 2&1 score. Mains had an easier time, winning her match of Sarah Boden by a 3&2 score.
Karisa Stojkovich dropped her match by a 3&2 while freshman
Nicole Toledano lost by a 6&5 outcome.
The Jaguars will immediately head to California for Sunday's practice round for the 2015 Summit League Championships at Bayonet Golf Club in Seaside, Calif..
