Day #1 Results (.html)CINCINNATI, Ohio - The IUPUI men's track team enjoyed a thrilling night on day one of the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational on Friday (Mar. 27) as the Jaguars' 10,000m crew established a new school record and took three of the top six spots in the 31-man race inside Gettler Stadium. Sophomore
Damon Pruett ran a school record time of 30:33.57, lowering the existing mark by 17 seconds in the process.
Junior
Miguel Lozano, who was a late addition to the event, ran a time of 30:42.72 to take third. Pruett and Lozano were the top two collegiate finishers, trailing only former Dayton standout Chris Lemon, who ran a time of 29:43.34. Pruett and Lozano became the second and third IUPUI runners to go under 31 minutes, joining former record holder Sam Roudebush. Lozano's time eclipsed his previous best effort by more than a minute.
Fifth-year senior
Tom Ohlman continued to round into shape with a sixth-place finish, running a time of 31:18.10.
The Jaguars showed exemplary depth on Friday night with eight different runners gaining a meet entry.
Max Zmija was 12th at 32:01.17 and senior
Pryce Ragains was 14th at 32:11.21. Freshman
Adam Guth was just behind him at 32:15.17. For Zmija, it was a 37-second personal record. Freshman
David Behrmann was 17th at 32:31.13.
Senior
Ryan Kelly rounded out the bunch at 33:19.06.
The two-day meet is expected to continue on Saturday, beginning at 10:00 a.m..
