MUNCIE, Ind. – A week after notching a 4-3 win over Toledo, the IUPUI men's tennis team looks for another win against at Mid-American Conference program when it takes on Ball State in Muncie on Friday, March 13.

The match against the Cardinals is set to start at 3 p.m., but it will not be the only match of the weekend for the Jags as they also open Summit League play at home against another in-state opponent in Fort Wayne. The Jaguars and Mastodons meet at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 14.

Last weekend against Toledo, the Jags got off to a shaky start falling behind 2-0, before rallying to win four of the final five singles matches to eke out the 4-3 win. The match came down to the No. 5 match and Akshay Verma rallied from a 5-1 deficit in the third set to force a tiebreaker, before eventually claiming the win with a 7-5 victory in the breaker. The win improved the Jags to 4-10 on the season.

In addition to Verma, Adam Reinhart, David Beasley and Jose Calero also notched singles wins, and those three have combined for 19 of the team's 30 singles wins on the year highlighted by Reinhart's eight.

In recent years, the Jags have struggled against the Cardinals dropping seven straight decisions to Ball State, while the series against the Mastodons has been back and forth with each team claiming four victories in the last eight meetings.
