Final Results (.pdf)JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The IUPUI women's golf team concluded play at the Benbow Invitational on Tuesday (Mar. 10), firing a final round 338 to climb to sixth-place among the 10-team field. The Jaguars finished the tournament at 680 (342-338) and moved up one spot in the standings on the final day.
Host Butler won the event at 644 and Cleveland State was second at 658. The CSU duo of Allyson Hackman and Sophie Kelner finished atop the leaderboard at 155.
Senior
Kelli Witt was IUPUI's top finisher at 164 (81-83), tying for 13th among the 62-player field. Sophomore
Erin Ingram placed tied for 22nd at 171 (86-85).
"We need to get outside and play," IUPUI Head Coach
John Andrews said. "I saw a lot of good shots and lots of not as good shots. Getting an early start (outside) should help us down the road. Witt and Ingram battled for shots and (Nicole) Toledano played nine good holes."
Freshmen
Nicole Toledano and
Aneta Abrahamova finished tied for 25th at 172. Toledano shot 84 on Tuesday while Abrahamova closed with a final round 85.
"Aneta is better than that, no matter what," Andrews said.
Senior
Lauren Mains, who suffered a finger injury during the practice round on Sunday, gutted out a final round 87 after missing Monday's action.
"I was very proud that Lauren Mains played today," Andrews said. "She put the team before herself."
IUPUI will continue the spring slate on Mar. 15-16 when the Jaguars partcipate in the Cape Fear National Intercollegiate in Leland, N.C.. The tournament will be played at Cape Fear National at Brunswick Forest and hosted by Appalachian State.
