INDIANAPOLIS – The regular-season concludes for the IUPUI women's basketball team on Saturday, Feb. 28, when the Jaguars head to Brookings, S.D., to take on South Dakota State.
Tip at Frost Arena is set for 3 p.m. ET, and Morgan Adcock will have the call on IUPUIJags.com just prior to tip.
IUPUI sits in a two-way tie with Western Illinois for third spot in the Summit League standings entering the regular-season finale, and both teams are half a game ahead of Oral Roberts. The Golden Eagles are 8-7 in the conference heading into their final game of the regular-season on Saturday at IPFW, while IUPUI and WIU both face tough road tests with the Leathernecks at South Dakota.
The Jags could finish anywhere from the No. 3 to the No. 5 seed in the upcoming Summit League Tournament, which will be played at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, S.D., March 7-10, meaning that their opening game of the tournament will be played on Sunday, March 8.
IUPUI is coming off a 69-53 loss to USD on Thursday night, while the Jackrabbits defeated Western Illinois, 69-49. The Jaguars were led in scoring by
Shaquira Scott and Jena Gunn, who scored 11 points and 10 points, respectively, but turnovers proved to be too much to overcome as 17 miscues resulted in 16 points off turnovers.
While South Dakota State dominated the series early on winning the first 12 meetings all-time between the two schools, IUPUI has won four of the last five meetings, including a 68-67 win in Indianapolis back in January. SDSU leads the all-time series 13-4, and IUPUI is 1-6 when playing in Brookings with that one win coming back on Jan. 19, 2013.
Fans can watch the game through GoJacks.com for $11.95, and live stats will be provided at IUPUIJags.com.
