INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI women's basketball team plays its final home game of the season on Saturday, Feb. 21, when it welcomes Oral Roberts to The Jungle for a 2 p.m. tip.
Saturday's game will be Senior Day for the Jaguars and prior to the start of the game, senior
Nevena Markovic will be honored for her contributions to the program. The game will also be televised on HTSN and streamed on ESPN3, and Greg Rakestraw and Bob Lovell will have the call.
The Jags (13-13; 8-5 Summit) are coming off an impressive 76-65 win over North Dakota State on Thursday night with five players scoring in double figures led by
Shaquira Scott's 23 points. Joining her in double figures were
Akilah Sims and
Mikale Rogers with 14 points each, Markovic with 13 points and
Danielle Lawrence with 10 points.
Sims and Markovic have each scored in double figures in the last seven games, and the Jags are 5-2 during that stretch.
The Golden Eagles have won four of their last five to improve to 14-13 overall and 8-6 in the Summit League. They are led by Vicky McIntyre, who averages 15.1 ppg and 15.9 rpg, with her rebounding total leading the nation. McIntyre also is second in the country in blocks with 4.65 bpg.
Oral Roberts leads the all-time series between the two schools, 18-11, following an 84-72 loss in Tulsa, Okla., back on Jan. 15.
The Jags and Golden Eagles are in a tight race for seeding in the upcoming Summit League Tournament. South Dakota sits atop the standings with an 11-2 league mark, two games ahead of South Dakota State (9-4). IUPUI and Western Illinois are tied at 8-5, followed by Oral Roberts at 8-6.
