IUPUIThe Jags enter the week riding a pair of close wins against quality opponents in Marquette (W, 60-55) and VCU (W, 70-69) last week. The Jags' three games have been decided by a total of 12 points, including a 77-71 overtime loss at Eastern Illinois to open the year.
Head Coach
Austin Parkinson has had a different breakout player in each of the first three contests. In game one (EIU), senior
Akilah Sims went for 22 points and eight rebounds. In game two (Marquette), it was sophomore guard
Danielle Lawrence's turn as she poured in 23 points, shooting at a 63.6 percent clip. Game three (VCU) was all
Sydney Hall, as the freshman point guard finally found her stroke, knocking down five triples en route to a 19-point performance.
Despite the game-highs for each of these three, it's been junior center
Mikale Rogers whose made a home in the paint as the Jags' security blanket. Rogers leads the team in points (15.7), rebounds (9.3), blocks (1.3) and minutes played (31.3) per game. She also leads the club in field goal percentage, shooting at a 63 percent mark, and her three-point play with 6.9 seconds left was the game-winner for the Jags against VCU last Saturday.
