?INDIANAPOLIS – After being swept by Denver and North Dakota State last weekend the Jags look to bounce back against South Dakota and Omaha, two of the best defenses in the Summit League, in matches that will help determine seeding for the Summit League tournament.
The Jags come in to the weekend with a 10-4 record in conference play and an overall record of 19-9. IUPUI has a two-game losing streak but will look to break that back at home where it has a 9-1 mark.
IUPUI will look to end the losing streak against South Dakota on Friday (Nov. 13). IUPUI is 7-4 against the Coyotes (13-14, 7-7 Summit) all-time but lost the first matchup against South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D. earlier this season 3-1.
In the match with the Coyotes, the Jags allowed South Dakota to hit .322 and were outblocked 12-5. The Jags also struggled on offense only hitting .229, including hitting percentages of .119 and .189 in the third and fourth sets.
South Dakota comes in to the match having won two straight matches but is 2-8 away from home. The Coyotes are led on offense by Audrey Reeg, who is second in league play with 3.91 kills per set. Reeg led the Coyotes with 19 kills against the Jags in the first match. South Dakota's 14.09 kills per set as a team is second in league play. Defensively South Dakota ranks second in digs per set with 17.62.
After South Dakota, the Jags will play host to Omaha on Senior Night. IUPUI will celebrate four seniors and look to beat the Mavericks for the ninth straight time in a match that could be critical to conference standings and seeding for the Summit League tournament.
Omaha comes in to the match having won seven straight. The winning streak has boosted the Mavericks in to second place in the Summit League with an 11-3 league record, 16-11 overall. Omaha is one game ahead of IUPUI in the standings for the all-important second seed in the Summit League tournament, which gets a first round bye.
In the first matchup with the Mavericks, IUPUI swept Omaha for the sixth time in the seven all-time meetings. The match was dominated by the Jags as they held Omaha to a .100 clip and to a .079 and .030 percentage in the first two sets.
Omaha does come in to the match with the most digs per set of any team in conference play at 18.56, led by Kimberly Bailey who leads the league with 5.35 dps. Offensively, Omaha ranks in the middle of the pack in all statistical categories.
Through 14 Summit League matches, senior #Kelly Wachtel leads the team and is second in the league in hitting percentage at .366, sophomore
