SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The IU Indy volleyball team fell to UTSA, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Convocation Center. The Jaguars dropped the three sets by scores of 25-14, 25-14 and 25-16.
IU Indy (4-6) battled throughout the opening two sets but was unable to overcome a strong UTSA attack. The Roadrunners hit .403 as a team, including a .500 mark in both the second and third sets.
The Jaguars found their best offensive rhythm in the third set, recording 10 kills and hitting .192. IU Indy held an early 2-0 advantage before UTSA responded with a run to take control. The Jaguars continued to compete, pulling within 18-13 and later 23-16, but the Roadrunners closed out the match, 25-16.
Jillian Tippmann led IU Indy with nine kills while
Grace Purichia directed the offense with 18 assists.
Bailey Sinish paced the Jaguars defensively with nine digs, while
Laura Roeder added five digs. Purichia also contributed four kills, while
Maia Long added three kills on five attacks. IU Indy totaled 23 kills and four service aces on the afternoon.
The Jaguars will now return home to host the Butler Bulldogs on Wednesday, Sept. 16 inside the Jungle.
