VALPARAISO, Ind. – Looking to close out its road trip with a win, the IUPUI men's tennis team got off to a slow start dropping the doubles point and it couldn't recover as it lost a 5-2 decision at Valparaiso.
The loss dropped the Jags to 1-7 on the season, while the Crusaders improved to 2-0.
Valpo took the doubles point winning convincingly at the top two positions, before moving onto singles.
In singles play, Valparaiso pulled out two tight three-set matches at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots in addition to winning in straight sets at the No. 4 and 5 spots.
While those four singles losses determined the match,
Adam Reinhart continued his impressive play to start the season winning 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3.
Jose Calero finished things off winning a three-set decision at the No. 6 spot, 6-4, 3-6, 6-0.
The Jaguars return home next weekend when they begin a four-match homestand on Feb. 6 taking on both SIU-Edwardsville and Saint Louis. The matches are set to begin at 12:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.
