MEN'S TENNIS CONTINUES ROAD SWING SATURDAY AT VALPARAISO

Jaguars and Crusaders will meet for the first time since 2012

1/30/2015 8:00:00 AM

VALPARAISO, Ind. – A week after playing four matches in three days, the IUPUI men's tennis team will need to focus on just one match this week when it heads to Valparaiso, Ind., to take on the Valparaiso Crusaders on Saturday, Jan. 31.

Saturday's match is set to start at 3:30 p.m. ET at The Courts of NWI. The Crusaders are 1-0 this spring following a season-opening win at Toledo, and they will face IPFW on Friday, Jan. 30, before welcoming the Jags on Saturday.

IUPUI is 1-6 on the young season following a tough 1-3 stretch last weekend in Milwaukee and Chicago. Through seven matches this season, IUPUI is 5-13 in doubles matches, with the team of David Beasley and Jose Calero claiming three of those wins.

Beasley also has been one of the top performers in singles play posting a 3-3 record between the No. 4 and No. 5 positions. Adam Reinhart leads the way in singles with a team-high four wins, with three of those coming at the No. 3 spot.

Saturday's meeting will be the first between the in-state schools since the 2012 season when IUPUI defeated Valpo, 5-2, in a neutral site match.
