INDIANAPOLIS - Following an impressive win on Thursday at Indiana Farmers Coliseum against Denver, the Jaguars will quickly turn their attention to Saturday night when they welcome Summit League leader South Dakota to The Jungle.
GAMEDAY INFORMATION
- Saturday's tip is slated for 7 p.m. ET at The Jungle.
- Saturday's game is sponsored by the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The Jags will be wearing pink socks to raise awareness for the foundation.

ABOUT SOUTH DAKOTA
- The Coyotes come into Saturday's game fresh off a hard-fought 73-72 win at Fort Wayne on Thursday that improved their record to 15-4 overall and 5-1 in The Summit League.
- USD sits atop the league standings with the halfway point approaching, and it is led by three double-figure scorers in Raeshel Contreras (17.0 ppg), Nicole Seekamp (14.3 ppg) and Margaret McCloud (10.5 ppg).
- South Dakota leads the conference in scoring (80.4 ppg), field goal percentage (44.7%) and assists (16.3 apg).
- The Coyotes shoot an impressive 36.4 percent from three, and they are led in made three's by Contreras' 51. Tia Hemiller is the most effective shooter from deep hitting at a 45.7 percent clip.
- USD does a good job limiting turnovers as it commits just 15.0 per game, and it averages 16.3 assists per game.
THE SERIES WITH THE COYOTES
- South Dakota leads the all-time series, 5-2, and it has won four of the last five against IUPUI.
- The Jaguars are 2-1 all-time against USD inside The Jungle, including an 80-59 victory last season.
LAST TIME OUT ...
- A 31-6 run spanning from the 6:30 mark of the first half to the 15:00 minute mark of the second half propelled the IUPUI women's basketball team to a 71-54 victory over Denver in Summit League action Thursday evening at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
- Thursday's game was the first game for the Jags at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum since they took on then-No. 11/12 Louisville in the season opener. That night, the Jaguars shot 57.4 percent in the second half and that hot shooting continued against the Pioneers as IUPUI shot 45.5 percent from the field, including 50.0 percent in the second half.
- Shaquira Scott led the way with 22 points, her second 20-plus point outing this season, and she was joined in double figures by Jenna Gunn and Akilah Sims who added 13 and 12 points, respectively.
- Throughout the season, IUPUI has won the rebounding battle, but over the last three games the opponents had won the battle of the boards playing a key role in two losses. Behind Gunn's eight rebounds, the Jags returned to form on Thursday winning the rebounding battle 39-28, which included 15 offensive boards.
- Scott scored seven points and grabbed five rebounds in the opening eight minutes to keep the Jags within striking distance as Denver connected on seven of its first 11 shots from the field, including 3-of-4 from three, to take an 18-10 advantage.
- After nearly a three-game absence due to injury, Sims came in and made an immediate impact scoring or assisting on the Jags next four baskets as they were able to close within three, 22-19, with 7:45 on the clock.
- After the Pioneers pushed their lead back to six at 27-21, with 6:29 remaining, IUPUI clamped down on defensive and went on a 15-4 run to close the half sending it into the break with a 36-31 lead. The run was highlighted by two three's in the final 1:15 from Sims, which gave her 10 first-half points in just nine minutes of work.
- That momentum gained from the end of the first half carried into the first five minutes of the second half as the Jags went on a 16-2 spurt to open a 52-33 advantage.
- The hot shooting continued for IUPUI as it was able to up its lead to 30, 68-38, with a little more than seven minutes to go giving it its largest lead of the game.
- From that point the outcome was never in doubt as the Jags finished off the 71-54 win.
STEPPING UP
- In Summit League play, the Jags have had some players step up with both Nevena Markovic and Akilah Sims missing some time.
- Shaquira Scott, the team's leading scorer, has upped her scoring production from 9.6 ppg in non-conference games to 12.5 ppg in Summit League action.
- Scott isn't the only one who's seen her scoring production increase during conference play. Mikale Rogers and Jenna Gunn averaged 7.6 and 6.5 ppg, respectively, during non-conference play, and they have upped their scoring output to 11.2 ppg and 8.5 ppg in league action.
- In six Summit League games, IUPUI has had five different leading scorers highlighted by Shaquira Scott's 22 points against Denver on Jan. 22.
- Jenna Gunn scored a career-high 19 points and Martha Burse added a career-high 16 points in a loss at Oral Roberts on Jan. 15, while Mikale Rogers scored 21 at Omaha on Jan. 17.
SIMS MAKES HER RETURN
- After missing three games due to injury, Akilah Sims made her return to the lineup on Thursday against Denver.
- The Fort Wayne, Ind.-native made her presence felt in a limited amount of time helping the Jags pick up a big win.
- Sims finished with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the floor in just 12 minutes of action. She also tied a career high dishing out four assists.
- Sims entered the game with the Jaguars trailing 18-10, and she quickly lifted the team offensively having a part in the team's next nine points scoring four and assisting on five.
- Late in the first half with IUPUI trailing 31-30, Sims hit two three's in the final 1:09 to cap a 15-4 run sending the Jags into the break with a 36-31 advantage.
